LaVeist Enterprises, LLC is a multimedia and communications consulting firm that helps companies and organizations develop strategic plans to reach and improve internal and external relationships with desired audiences. LELLC’s goal is to help “make scientific research more accessible…” It helps companies, such as health care systems, social service organizations and academic institutions — whose communications are often not tailored for the general public — to improve their messaging, particularly in areas such as cultural competency and literacy. As a doctoral candidate in Technology and Media Studies at Old Dominion University, LaVeist’s research emphasis is on effective dissemination to the general public – how to make scientific information that is highly relevant to the general public, more easily accessible and understandable in order to empower ordinary people. Whether it is staff communications workshops, media messaging on multiple platforms, or editorial content editing, LELLC helps clients to improve their bottom lines by successfully improving communications. For example, LELLC helped Riverside Health System’s PACE program campaign to increase client leads by 65 percent in the first month and to maintain 40 percent consistency for subsequent months.
LELLC is also proud to be involved in the production of the upcoming documentary film “The Skin You’re In,” which is about why the astonishing African American health disparity exists and what can be done about it. The project aims to translate public health research to the general public in an engaging, easy to understand way that empowers people to make better health decisions.
